Bail is set at $20,000 cash for a 70-year-old Manitowoc man charged with Possession Of Child pornography. Richard J. Leiker was taken into custody on Thursday morning. Several Officers went to Leiker’s residence in the 400 block of North 10th Street to execute a search warrant. He denied ever possessing or viewing any pornography containing minors. An initial search revealed otherwise. Authorities discovered a dozen hard drives—multiple VHS tapes and DVD’S along with other media that were seized. One hard drive and a number of mobile devices had multiple explicit images and other media sources are still being searched which could result in additional charges being filed. Conditions of bail are that Leiker has no contact with anyone under the age of 18, not possess any internet-enabled device unless otherwise approved by the court and report to the Manitowoc Police Department for photos and prints upon release. He remains in the County Jail with an initial appearance scheduled for October 14th at 1:30.
