Jerome C. Johnson, age 90, lifetime resident of Two Rivers, died peacefully early Monday morning, November 18, 2019 at his residence, after a brief illness.
Jerome was born in Two Rivers on December 4, 1928 to Charles and Helen (Hartel) Johnson II. He attended school in Two Rivers and was united in marriage to Delores Groth on October 11, 1952 at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Kewaunee. Jerome worked for Hamilton Mfg. Company in Two Rivers for 46 years, retiring in 1993. He enjoyed going out to eat at Suster’s in Denmark and traveling with his family. He also enjoyed gardening, doing his yardwork, and was a huge dog-lover. Jerome also loved country-western and polka music.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Delores; one son & daughter-in-law, Jerry and Virginia Johnson of Mishicot; one daughter & son-in-law, June and Bill Welk of South Dakota; four grandchildren: Kelly Welk (special friend, Rob Franz), Kristin Welk, Jason Welk, Lisa Zais Castro, and husband, Emilio; and seven great-granchildren. He is further survived by a sister, Linda Knotek of Racine; three sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law: Mary Johnson, and Dick Longhini, both of Manitowoc, Nancy Shermer of N.C. and Marcella Pabellek of Ladysmith; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Charles and Helen Johnson; and his siblings: Charles Jr., Floyd, Russell, and Kenneth Johnson; Sharon (Everett) Lambert, Carol (LeRoy) Smith, Rita Longhini and Shirley (Paider) Stelzer.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 22, 2019 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3607 45th Street, Two Rivers. Rev. Stephen Kruschel will officiate at the service, with burial to follow in Forest View Cemetery, Two Rivers.
The family will greet relatives and friends at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Fridaymorning from 9:30 until 11:00 a.m. There will be no Thursday evening visitation.
Following the funeral service, a dinner will be held at Machut’s Supper Club, 3911 Lincoln Ave. Two Rivers for family and friends.
