Matt Schliesman is retiring as the Executive Director of the Capitol Civic Center in Manitowoc.
Schliesman assumed the position in December of 2010 and during his decade in the office, there have been two major renovation projects along with two capitol fundraising drives that brought in a combined $4.3 million.
Capitol Board President Tom Angst thanked Schliesman for his service to the theater, and to the performing arts community at large. In a news release, he said, “Matt polished the Capitol Civic Center into the shining jewel of the lakeshore that we can all be very proud of.”
A search for a replacement will begin immediately, and Schliesman expects to wind up his duties this summer.
The retiring Executive Director said “I came here for an exciting and challenging job in an exquisite historic theatre, which I found, but I also found a new hometown I look forward to enjoying for many years to come.”
