15 years after it held its final service, plans have come to light to demolish St. Boniface Church in Manitowoc.
The church at 1110 South 10th Street ceased being used as a church after St. Francis of Assis Parish consolidated.
Father Douglas LeCaptain of St. Francis of Assisi spoke about the upcoming demolition saying “Buildings are in some ways like people. They are born, they live, and they die. When they die, it becomes time to respectfully bury them.”
Other churches in the area will have the opportunity to take sacred items from the High Victorian Gothic style church, which was built in 1885.
Reports indicate that the site will be converted into a small park.
