As fears surrounding the Coronavirus continue to envelope the nation, the City of Manitowoc has decided to postpone the 150th birthday celebration scheduled for Thursday.
In a news release, Mayor Justin Nickels stated, “City leadership will meet Monday morning to make decisions on how we will continue to provide public services with a priority on the health and safety of our citizens and employees.”
The scheduled Common Council meeting today, and Wednesday’s Candidates Forum are both still on at this point, but the Mayor asks that people stay home and watch via Facebook Live instead of attending in person.
He also asks that everyone be sure to check on their neighbors, especially the elderly and those more vulnerable.
More updates are expected today.
