Manitowoc Police Chief Nick Reimer tells SeehaferNews.com that they’ve had to make some adjustments to help combat the spread of the COVID 19 virus.
He said they had to shut down the citizens academy due to the number of participants, they are not doing fingerprinting at this time, and are practicing social distancing in all aspects of the job, even on calls.
Reimer elaborated, explaining that “If you call for service, we may look a little different because we won’t be so close…That’s for our safety, but that’s also for our citizen’s safety. Just to try to prevent the spread.”
Reimer said that they have not had to staff any additional officers, and that “It’s business as usual. Nothing out of the ordinary.”
The MPD Chief adds they have a “mutual aid” agreement with most law enforcement Agencies in case an emergency were to occur.
