U-S Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is proposing direct cash payments for Americans to help them combat the coronavirus pandemic.
The package is expected to cost around one trillion dollars. Wisconsin residents who made $75,000 or less last year would be eligible for $1,200 payments, plus $500 for each child. The amount would decrease for people making more than that and those whose income topped $99,000 wouldn’t be eligible.
McConnell is calling it “emergency tax relief” and the checks would be in the mail quickly.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is pushing back, saying the G-O-P plan isn’t big enough.
