Manitowoc County Departments are exempt as an “essential service” under Governor Evers “Safer at Home” Order issued today and will remain open for business. However, Emergency Management Director Travis Waack tells Seehafer News that they take social distancing seriously and the need to alter the ways business is conducted in order to prevent the spread of COVID 19 and to protect the healthcare system. Some of these, according to Waack, include closing public lobbies or asking residents to conduct business via phone, e-mail, traditional mail or a dropbox. Therefore the County is asking all to please call ahead before attempting to do business.
Waack also clarifies what defines take-out orders which is more restrictive than enacted by the State. “You must order your food either by phone or the internet, prior to going and picking it up. You need to order in advance and it needs to be ready when you go to pick up the order. We can’t have people congregating in restaurants, ordering and then waiting for an extended period of time while that order is being prepared. You must order in advance. You can’t go into a restaurant, order and then wait on your food.” Customers are also prohibited from self-dispensing any condiments.
Meanwhile, Manitowoc County staff will be on hand to take your phone call and instruct you on how your business can be conducted depending upon the current situation. For a full list of phone numbers visit www.manitowoccounty.org.
