Mayor Justin Nickels issues an update to his emergency order for the City of Manitowoc to extend the closure of city facilities.
From Mayor Justin Nickels:
Governor Evers issued a “Stay at Home” order yesterday for the State of Wisconsin. Due to this, and some more information we have received over the past few days, I am making a few adjustments to my initial emergency order to protect public health, safety, and welfare while keeping the city operational.
- I have ordered the closure of the following city facilities (and all activities associated with them) until Friday, April 24th, 2020: (previously was Monday, April 6th, 2020)
- Manitowoc Senior Center (meals on wheels continues)
- Manitowoc Public Library (curbside pickup has been cancelled)
- Maritime Metro Transit (rides are still available upon request…call MMT at (920) 686-3560)
- Rahr-West Art Museum
- Lincoln Park Zoo
- Municipal Court
- Evergreen Cemetery Office (citizens can still visit the cemetery during this time)
- City parks restrooms AND playground equipment (parks are still open for citizens to walk through)
- All reservations at city facilities (this is effective until Friday, May 15th)
- Any special event scheduled between now (March 25th, 2020) to May 15th, 2020 (these are events that have been approved by the city to outside groups)
- City Hall
- All offices will be closed to the public effective today, Wednesday, March 25th except the City Clerk’s Office for in-person voting ONLY. Early voting at City Hall can be done Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:30pm until Friday, April 3rd. City Hall will be closed to the public completely beginning Monday, April 6th (it will be open on Election Day, Tuesday, April 7th for District 4 voting only).
- The city is STRONGLY encouraging citizens to request an absentee ballot at myvote.wi.gov or by calling the City Clerk’s Office at: (920) 686-6950
