There is “growing pressure “on Governor Evers to postpone the Spring General Election April 7th due to the COVID 19 pandemic.
Manitowoc County Board Chairman Jim Brey tells SeehaferNews.com, “It would be interesting if we postponed the election, because the current board members terms run out on April 24th, and since County Boards don’t have staggered terms, there would be no County Board existing here in Manitowoc County.”
He also says County Clerk Jessica Backus is concerned. He said, “She is having a little trouble keeping co-workers concerned about what might potentially happen.”
Election pending-there will be a minimum of five-perhaps up to seven new Supervisors on the County Board with retirements and contested races.
Brey is running uncontested and has served 24 years on the County Board. He’s also the Finance Chair on the Manitowoc Common Council where he has served citizens in the city’s fourth district for 28 years.
