It could be described as the end of an era, as the former WCUB office building on Mirro Drive is being demolished. After many successful years as a thriving radio station, the building had fallen into disrepair and was no longer safe.
Demolition work started Thursday afternoon and is expected to be completed in less than a week. Once the brick portion has been leveled and carted away, some of the old parking lot will be removed and a fresh landscape will take its place. The large blue portion of the structure will remain and will be used to store some radio station equipment.
The 500-foot radio tower structure located behind this property is not affected by this work. The WCUB studio and offices moved out of the Mirro Drive building in November 2016 and the building has been vacant since that time. The current WCUB studios are located at 3730 Mangin St. in Manitowoc.
