As more and more people work from home, the risk of someone gaining access to work computers is rising.
Many people are using remote work options to gain access to their work station, and have access to all of their sensitive work. However, these programs are not infallible to hackers. The Better Business Bureau of Wisconsin is advising people using these programs to lock their computers if they step away, and to log off when you are done for the day. This will make it more difficult if not impossible for hackers to gain access.
Utilizing unique passwords for your accounts, and cell phones is also important, as is accepting unsolicited IT support calls. If someone calls claiming to want to help you fix your computer, make sure you verify the source before allowing them to do so. You can find more tips at BBB.org/Wisconsin.
