Metro Jam, Manitowoc’s long-running free summer festival, scheduled for Friday and Saturday, June 19 and 20, 2020, has been canceled for 2020. Metro Jam’s 42-year history of free concerts at the MetroStage in downtown Manitowoc’s Washington Park, has been halted this year as a result of safety concerns tied to the Coronavirus Pandemic.
The Metro Jam planning committee in cooperation with the Manitowoc Jaycees decided today that in an abundance of caution, “the show needed to be canceled for 2020.” With all entertainment touring at a standstill and the expectation that large gatherings will likely not be resuming anytime soon, the committee stated that “cancellation of the show was the only option.”
In a press release, organizers said, “We fully hope to be back in the summer of 2021 with another great lineup of FREE music at Manitowoc’s Washington Park. We may be able to even reschedule much of this year’s planned lineup for 2021. Until then, we hope everyone stays safe and continues to keep good music in your lives. We would like to thank our dedicated Presenting Sponsors Baileigh Industrial, Forefront Dermatology and Cher-Make Sausage, as well as all of our great long time supporting sponsors!! Thank you very much to all the sponsors and the community as a whole for your continued support of Metro Jam!”
