The owner of Meadow Sports Complex is looking forward to opening his 18-hole Golf Course next Friday. Steve Skarda tells us that he’s pleased with the Governor’s allowance of Golf Course Operations, effective April 24th at 8 am.
Skarda explained it’s important for people to get out & exercise and golfing is a “perfect venue” to do that. He said no carts will be allowed at this point on any golf course but pull carts will be available for rental. Skarda says the pro shop technically can’t be open, but they plan to have someone on-site to register golfers. He stated it’s dry on both nines right now and the course “should be very playable.” Skarda said typically they open the season the second week of April, although last year was a much later start due to a wet spring.
Meanwhile, the month-long quarantine has had a huge impact on the bowling side of the business. The owner says he and his staff had to halt league play and the safer at home order also forced the cancellation of the final 3-weeks of the State Knights of Columbus Bowling Tournament. Skarda added, MSC also suffered a hit with group room rentals coming to an end during COVID-19.
Driving ranges & mini-golf courses will remain closed.
