Lakeshore Foster Families and Friends responded to the COVID-19 state of emergency in an impressive way.
Spokesperson Molly Stolp says a plan was developed to distribute groceries & other much-needed supplies to the families currently supported by the organization. Board members of Lakeshore Foster Families and Friends were able to obtain a generous grant from the West Foundation to develop the food relief project.
Amber Daugs of Grow It Forward is partnering by providing food from farmers, who are struggling with the loss of income during the pandemic. In addition, Cheryl Vogel from Moose on the Loose Catering is supplying prepared meals for recipients.
All families currently giving out-of-home care in Manitowoc County are eligible to participate as foster & kinship families are provided fresh food and refrigerated items. The disbursements are a way for Lakeshore Foster Families and Friends to thank the parents for giving a safe and loving home to children who need it the most.
The first monthly provisions were delivered in April and it was described as a huge success. For more information visit LakeshoreFosterFamilies.org or find them on Facebook.
