The Brown County Sheriff’s Office says a jail correctional officer is the first employee to test positive for COVID-19. A subsequent review confirmed that one additional jail employee, who was in contact with this patient, has been tested and is currently being quarantined and evaluated.
In addition, the infected employee has a ‘household contact’ employed as a Sheriff’s Deputy and three additional deputies who have been in “close contact” with the “household contact” Deputy, have all also been tested and quarantined. Results are anticipated to be received on all those individuals within 48 hours.
The Sheriff’s Office says the infected employee uses proper personal protective equipment while in contact with other employees and inmates per CDC and Sheriff’s guidelines. These four Deputies do not work within the Brown County Jail and the County Public Health Department considers all these other contacts to be at “low risk” to contract COVID 19.
