The Wisconsin Department of Health Services is “well on the way” to achieving its goal of testing every resident and staff member in long-term care facilities for COVID-19 in May. D-H-S Deputy Secretary Julie Willems Van Dijk said 226 of the 366 skilled nursing facilities have requested testing supplies and many are conducting testing within their own facilities. The National Guard is assisting with some testing sites. Adjutant General Paul Knapp said troops are being re-deployed to assist with COVID-19 testing around the state and smaller teams are going to nursing homes to help meet the testing goal.
