The Two Rivers City Council has addressed an immediate need to create more beach area at Neshotah Beach due to high water levels.
City Manager Greg Buckley tells SeehaferNews.com, there was talk of tearing out one of the two parking lots, but “There was concern from the council about the cost of that. We estimated about $32,000-$36,000 to tear out one of the parking lots, and we would lose about 55 parking spots.”
Ultimately the Council approved an experiment where one of the parking lots would be closed off, but made it as an area people could set up to enjoy the beach. The Two Rivers City Manager says these high-water levels are a concern.
He said, “If we see sustained high lake levels, it may be worth investing in more parking inland, and turning those areas between the road and the water into beach, but that’s a longer term proposition.”
Plans are to close off a parking lot sometime next week.
