The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources reports the state’s turkey hunters took six thousand more birds during the spring season than they did in 2019.
17% more kills put the total take just below 45,000 birdS, up from 38,500 the year before.
The D-N-R says it issued more than 224,000 permits. Wardens say a warmer spring and favorable brooding conditions help increase the 2020 harvest.
