As a reminder, the Juneteenth Celebration being put on by the Lakeshore is United Visionaries is this afternoon at Washington Park in Manitowoc.
This event aims to bring to light the holiday casually known as the second Independence Day, and honors the date that slavery was abolished in America.
The event will begin at 4:00 PM at the park, and will include a reading of the Emancipation Proclamation, as well as a spoken word poem, and a few other speakers.
