The National Democratic party is introducing a bill in the House of Representatives that would seriously curtail police behavior nationally. Recently there has been a push to defund police. Sixth District Congressman Glenn Grothman spoke with Seehafer News and had this reaction to the bill:
“This bill by itself would not defund them but it would make police incredibly timid and almost certainly would result in more crime and more murders.”
The push against police has come about largely in reaction to the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis while in police custody. Grothman has been in favor of police reform, and introduced a bill to do that while in the Wisconsin legislature. But he strongly disagrees with the current national bill:
“They are going way too far. You look at cities like Chicago or Milwaukee who already had so many more murders this year than last year and it would make it so much worse.”
