The mask mandate issued by Governor Tony Evers is helping slow the spread of COVID-19 in Manitowoc County, albeit slightly.
In the three weeks leading up to the mandate, which was implemented on August 1st, 153 new cases of COVID-19 were reported by the Manitowoc County Health Department. In the three weeks since the mandate began, 134 new cases have been reported. That is a decline of 19 cases during the same stretch of time. .
In Sheboygan County, 370 cases were reported leading up to the mandate, and 220 cases were reported since.
Compare that to Brown County, where 765 new cases were reported in the three weeks leading up to the mandate, and 684 more cases were reported three weeks after.
