Ten youth hockey teams from seven states are in Manitowoc this weekend to compete in a large tournament and pump revenue into the local economy.
According to Robert Pinkerton President of the Manitowoc County Youth Hockey Association, the teams from the 10-and-Under Double-A Squirt Division are traveling here from around Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, California, Minnesota, Nebraska and Missouri.
There are no local teams competing, but hockey and figure-skating groups are supplying volunteers for cleaning/sanitizing, resurfacing and an administrative position.
Pinkerton says there are mask requirements in place for players, coaches, spectators & volunteers and spectators are limited to only the immediate family of the skaters (2 parents & siblings).
The hockey tournament is scheduled to run today, tomorrow and Sunday, starting each day at 7:30 AM.
