“I just think a lot of the healthcare workers are feeling discouraged and worn out and I just wanted to do something to encourage them.”
That statement came from Rebecca Fralick, the owner of Mara’s by Matenaer Catering, who took it upon herself to donate over 400 meals to healthcare workers.
SeehaferNews.com asked Fralick why she decided to show support for healthcare workers this way. “I have a couple of close friends who work in healthcare, and in seeing them recently, I could just tell how discouraged they were,” She said. “When I talked to them about that, they shared that that was the overall feeling at the hospital. I know at the beginning of the pandemic it was popular to support healthcare heroes, but as time has gone on, I think people are worn out because of the pandemic.”
As for what she served, Fralick said “We did some wraps, salads, soups, and I have a baker who provided some fantastic cupcakes. Kind of a variety. Some box lunches, grab and go stuff.”
Mara’s by Matenaer Catering is run in conjunction with Grow it Forward, and they are looking into providing Thanksgiving meals for healthcare workers as well.
