After the Manitowoc County Health Department reported an additional 72 recoveries in their COVID-19 Update yesterday, the number of recoveries has surpassed the 3,000 milestone.
With 1,862 cases still active, the number of recoveries is near double the number of people that are still actively fighting the virus.
In more positive news, the number of people currently hospitalized dropped slightly yesterday to 171. That is a decline of 4 patients. However, the percentage of ICU beds currently in use did rise by 2% to 85%.
Also, 53 more cases were confirmed, leaving a pandemic total of 4,942. No new deaths were reported, leaving the death toll at 37.
The 46-55-year-old age group continues to be the most affected, however, the gap is closing. That age group accounts for just over 800 cases, while the 56-65-year-old age group accounts for just under 800. The 26-35 and 36-45-year-old age groups each have seen roughly 650 cases, and 18-25-year-old citizens account for about 600 cases. The 86+ age group accounts for only about 100 cases yet takes up just under one-third of all deaths.
In Sheboygan County, the Division of Public Health reported 7 deaths linked to COVID-19. This brings their death toll up to 61. 57 new cases were also added, along with 101 recoveries, and 159 negative tests.
This brings their pandemic totals up to 9,182 cases, 2,326 of which remain active, 6,795 recoveries, and 36,315 negative test results.
