There was a fire near Downtown Manitowoc this morning.
According to Manitowoc Fire Chief Todd Blaser, the incident began at around 3:30 AM this morning in an apartment complex in the 700 block of Franklin Street.
While details about how the fire began have not yet been released, we do know that everyone, including a canine that lived in the lower residence, was able to self evacuate.
We spoke with Lane Braun, who lives next door, and he said he was awoken by police at around 3:30 AM. He said, βI ended up opening up the window and talking to him through the screen and he mentioned the building next door is smoking, and that I needed to get out.β
Braun also said, βIt has not affected my structure at all, but there might be some smoke damage.β
There were several fire agencies on hand including Mishicot, Newton, Two Rivers, and Valders.
