One more person has died from COVID-19 related complications in Manitowoc County.
This death, which was reported on Sunday, was the first in the County since November 28th and raises the death toll to 38. The individual did live in the city of Manitowoc and was over the age of 86.
Also over the weekend, there were more new cases than there were recoveries.
188 cases were reported, 64 on Friday, 96 on Saturday, and 28 on Sunday, while 174 people were added to the recovered column. 43 of the recoveries were announced in Friday’s report, 42 on Saturday, and 89 on Sunday.
This brings the pandemic totals up to 5,210 cases, 1,808 of which remain active, and 3,364 recoveries.
Also of note, the number of people hospitalized for COVID-19 has reached the lowest rate since the Health Department began reporting the numbers on November 10th. 117 people are currently seeking treatment, while 76% of ICU beds are in use.
While that is a rather high percentage, it is the lowest rate seen in the 10 Northeast Wisconsin hospitals have seen since the Health Department began reporting the numbers.
The Sheboygan County Department of Public Health meanwhile reported one additional death as well, raising their death toll to 63.
108 new cases were also reported on Friday, along with 172 recoveries. This brings their pandemic totals up to 9,471 cases, 2,148 of which remain active, and 7,260 recoveries.
The 250 negative tests in their latest report gives them a total of 36,778.
