After a weekend with a large number of new COVID-19 cases, the Manitowoc County Health Department reported a relatively small number of new cases on Monday.
34 new cases were added, along with the second-highest number of recoveries, 131. The record, which was set on November 23rd, is 140 recoveries in a single day. The pandemic totals now sit at 5,244 cases, 1,711 of which remain active, and 3,495 recoveries.
In other good news, no new deaths were reported, leaving the death toll at 38, while one fewer person is seeking treatment in the 10 hospitals in the Northeast Region, leaving that number at 116. However, the percentage of ICU beds in use did jump up by 3 points to 79%.
Meanwhile, in Sheboygan County, the Division of Public Health reported an additional 3 deaths linked to COVID, raising their death toll to 66.
175 new cases were also included in their report on Monday, alongside 425 recoveries. This brings their pandemic totals up to 9,646 cases, 1,895 of which remain active, and 7,685 recoveries.
