There was very little change to the COVID-19 statistics in Monday’s update from the Manitowoc County Health Department.
While only 37 new cases were reported, there were also only 27 new recoveries. This brings the pandemic totals up to 5,537 cases, 1,566 of which remain active, and 3,924 recoveries.
Also in the report were 91 negative tests, and no new deaths, leaving those numbers at 24,594 negative tests and 47 deaths.
There is also one fewer patient in the 10 hospitals in the Northeast Region of Hospitals, now totaling 106, while the percentage of ICU beds in use rose 3 points to 79%
The 46-55-year-old age group is still the most affected by the virus in Manitowoc County, as they account for roughly 950 cases, about 100 more than the next closest age group, the 56-65-year-old group. The third most affected group is actually a tie between the two age groups that land between 26 and 45 years old. They account for about 800 cases each.
The 86 and older age group only accounts for about 1.8% of all cases in the county, but they also account for roughly 40% of the 47 deaths.
Meanwhile, the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health reported one more death, raising their death toll to 79. This individual was over the age of 80, and that age group accounts for 37 of the total deaths.
Also, 371 new cases were reported on Monday, which does include all test results received over the weekend. That coupled with 401 recoveries brings the pandemic totals up to 10,381 cases, 1,592 of which remain active, and 8,710 recoveries.
