The death toll from COVID-19 in Manitowoc County has risen by one.
This latest death, as reported by the Manitowoc County Health Department, came out of the city of Two Rivers, and the individual was under the age of 75. 31 of the 48 total deaths have come from Manitowoc, Two Rivers accounts for 5 deaths, and the remaining 12 are from other cities.
19 of the people who died were over the age of 86, 16 were between 76 and 85-years-old, and 13 people were under the age of 75 at the time of their death.
In some more hopeful news, there were near twice as many recoveries then there were new cases yesterday. 30 cases were reported, while 58 people recovered, raising the pandemic totals up to 5,602 cases, 1,484 of which remain active, and 4,070 people have recovered.
That being said, the number of people currently hospitalized for the virus jumped up 6 points to 113, while the percentage of ICU beds in use in the 10 Northeast Wisconsin hospitals rose 2 percentage points to 81%.
Meanwhile, the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health also reported one more death, raising their death toll to 83. This individual was between the ages of 70 and 79.
Also, 72 new cases were confirmed, along with 135 recoveries. This brings the pandemic totals up to 10,478, 1,457 of which remain active, and 8,938 people have recovered.
