Between 50 and 100 people were at the brand-new Brix restaurant yesterday afternoon, as they hosted a ribbon-cutting and grand opening ceremony.
Brix, located on the southeast corner of South 8th and Washington Streets in Manitowoc, is owned by Brandon Bartow, who was able to hire a pretty familiar face to those who frequented CNC Links for their food.
Alyssa Strieter said that when she learned that the iconic golf course was closing, she thought she was going to make a change. “I thought I was going to get out of the business actually before [Bartow] called me back in May,” she explained. “It’s a new opportunity in the same industry.” An industry where she has spent 20 years honing her craft.
Alyssa told SeehaferNews.com that she likes to utilize locally sourced products in her food. “I’ve been using locally raised beef out at CNC Links, using local bakeries, local produce that sort of thing, so I just sort of stuck with what I knew,” she told Seehfarenews.com. “I partnered with…Wetenkamp Farms in Newton, which is where I’m from. They are awesome at what they do. They make the beef taste good so I can make the burger taste good.”
The Brix menu, which will be unveiled this weekend, and will be fully available when they open on Monday, will contain high-quality flatbread, with the crusts made fresh in-store, appetizers such as bacon-wrapped cheese curds, and burgers using that high quality, locally sourced beef.
We asked Alyssa if she had one sandwich which she would call her signature. She said it “kind of goes hand in hand with one of the appetizers. The Bourbon Dip is one of my favorites….I really enjoy the flavor bourbon brings to food, so we have the Bourbon Dip and Chips, and the Brix and Mortar Burger has the same bourbon dip on it.”
