A man known throughout De Pere and Green Bay for his award-winning Bakery shop has passed away.
Michael Vande Walle, better known as Uncle Mike, lost his battle with COVID-19 over the weekend at the age of 63.
The news was released on the Uncle Mike’s Bake Shoppe Facebook page. In the post, Uncle Mike’s wife quipped that “God must have wanted Kringle for Christmas.”
She also said that the bakery will continue to operate, but asked customers to be patient. “We might not be able to make everything that Mike did, but we will try our hardest,” she said.
Uncle Mike opened his now world-famous bakery in De Pere in 2001 and added one more location in Green Bay since.
A funeral for Uncle Mike will take place on December 26th at Ryan Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be created in his honor.
