The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office reports it has been a part of 16 homicide investigations involving children between the ages of 14-and-18 since September 1st.
A spokesperson says the county has seen a 200% increase in homicides involving teens. Fourteen of the 16 young homicide victims have been male and all were people of color. Community activist Tracey Dent says kids don’t have anything constructive to do during the pandemic and youth services are shut down.
Dent says the solution starts with talking to your kids and getting a better understanding of what is happening in their lives.
