Despite the optimism accompanying the arrival of two vaccines, Wisconsin’s battle with COVID-19 took a bad turn Tuesday.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services reports 120 COVID-related deaths in the state and that’s a new record.
The report pushes the state’s seven-day average to from 51 to 60 deaths-per-day – just one death short of the record set about two weeks ago.
4,425 patients have died of COVID-related issues in the state through Tuesday, more than a thousand of them in December.
The seven-day rolling average of new cases is about half of what it was last month, but only about half as many people are being tested.
