Forty-nine students successfully passed public safety certification exams held at Lakeshore Technical College in December.
Among them, 27 completed their National Registry of Emergency Technician’s psychomotor exams. The psychomotor exam analyzes skills needed for patient assessment in trauma and medical situations, patient ventilation, oxygen administration, and cardiac arrest.
The remaining 22 candidates were firefighting students with 16 completing their Firefighter Level II certification skills testing that included flammable liquids firefighting skills, incident management, and communication tests, and a vehicle extraction test station.
Additionally, six students completed their fire apparatus driving and operating skills tests to prove their abilities to safely drive large fire apparatus and operate fire pumps.
