The COVID-19 numbers in Manitowoc County continued to trend in the right direction over the holiday weekend.
Between the December 23rd report issued by the Manitowoc County Health Department and the report from Sunday, 99 new cases were confirmed, while 208 people were added to the recovered column. This raised the pandemic totals to 5,949 cases, and 4,741 recoveries, leaving 1,158 people still battling the virus.
Also, of note, the number of people hospitalized dropped below 100 for only the second time since the stat began being tracked. It now sits at 98, and 72% of ICU beds in the 10 hospitals in Northeast Wisconsin are in use. That is a drop of 11 percentage points since December 23rd, and it actually fell as low as 69% on Christmas Day.
Meanwhile, the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health has not issued a new report since December 23rd.
In that report, a total of 10,975 people had caught the virus, 9,670 people had recovered, and 1,214 people were still battling it. 91 people have died in Sheboygan County from COVID-19, while 39,511 tests have come back negative.
