As eastern Wisconsin residents prepare for the impending snowfall this evening, many local hardware stores are seeing a rise in the number of customers buying snow removal products.
We spoke with Ryan Linder, a co-cower of the Ace Hardware Store in Manitowoc, and he said their spike actually came a couple of days ago.
He said that he found, “People go out to start their snowblowers and they don’t start so they decide it’s time for a new one…It’s more so replacement once they realize the stuff last year got them by, and this year it’s time for a new one.”
Linder explained that they have a few varieties of snow blowers available for those who need a new one or are buying their first.
“We have a small selection of Ariens. We are not a full line Ariens dealer, but we do have three models to choose from,” he said. “We can get other brands, but we stock Ariens.”
Many people utilize ice melt on their sidewalks to help keep it clean, but some do not out of fear that it could injure their pet. Linder explained that is not a problem with any product purchased at Ace.
“Even though there is no pet on the bag, or it is not labeled pet friendly in big bold letters most ice melt is safe for pets,” he said. “That’s something that homeowners and businesses shouldn’t be afraid to use.”
In Manitowoc, we are expected to receive around 6 inches of snow starting at around 8:00 this evening.
