Two weeks after the Christmas holiday, Manitowoc County is seeing a slight rise in the number of COVID-19 cases.
In the first 5 days of the month, the Manitowoc County Health Department reported 119 new cases, but with yesterday’s inclusion of 55 new cases, there have been 105 new cases in the last two days.
This coupled with 51 recoveries means the pandemic totals now sit at 6,300 cases, 5,279 recoveries, and 970 active cases. The active case count has risen by 20 over the last two days as well.
In some good news, no new deaths were reported, leaving the death toll at 51 for the 10th straight day, while the number of people seeking treatment in the 10 hospitals in the northeast region fell by 10 to 95.
In Sheboygan County, it is a bit of a different story. The Division of Public Health reported 56 new cases and 76 recoveries. That brings their pandemic totals to 11,665 cases, 10,741 recoveries, and 828 active cases.
They also did not have any new deaths reported, meaning their death toll remained stagnant at 96.
