A woman was caught attempting to steal from the Manitowoc Walmart on Tuesday (January 19th).
The Manitowoc Police Department dispatched officers to the store, located at 4115 Calumet Avenue, just after noon, after store officials reported two women putting items in a backpack and purse. A Walmart Asset Protection Associate told the officers that he witnessed the women scanning some items at the register but not others.
Both women were caught in different places, but one was released because she only had one item worth under $50. The other woman was found to be in possession of $320 worth of unpaid-for items, and surveillance footage confirmed she had not paid for them.
The 40-year-old suspect was arrested on charges of Misdemeanor Retail Theft, and three counts of Felony Bail Jumping.
