The COVID-19 numbers reported by the Manitowoc County Health Department continue to shine a hopeful light on the pandemic.
Only 9 new cases were reported, which is the first-time single-digit new cases came in since December 29th and only the second time since October 2nd. That coupled with the fact that 22 more people were listed as recovered, leaves the pandemic totals at 6,726 cases, 5,772 recoveries, and 897 active cases.
This is the first time since October 7th that the number of active cases was below 900.
In more good news, no new deaths were reported in Manitowoc County, leaving that total at 57, while the number of people hospitalized in the northeast region fell by two to 98.
However, the percentage of ICU beds in use did go up by 2 percentage points to 78%.
In Sheboygan County, it was a bit of a different story. They continue to see moderate numbers of new cases, with 41 being reported yesterday by the Division of Public Health.
However, they are also reporting relatively high levels of recoveries as well, with 59 coming in yesterday. These latest stats leaves their pandemic totals at 12,233 cases, 11,443 recoveries, and 681 active cases.
No new deaths were reported, leaving the death toll in Sheboygan County at 109.
