The first month of 2021 ended on a good note in Manitowoc County, at least when it comes to COVID-19.
There was a total of 61 cases reported over the weekend, but there were also 130 recoveries, with 70 of them being reported by the Health Department on Saturday (January 30th). In more good news, there were no new deaths, meaning that the number remains stagnant at 60, as it has been for the past nine days.
The number of patients hospitalized for COVID in the northeast region of hospitals fell to 61 on Saturday but did rebound back up to 74 on Sunday. That is still a decline of 8 over the weekend.
There was a total of 838 new cases reported throughout the month of January, which leaves the pandemic total at 6,939 cases. In contrast, 1,109 people were added to the recovered column, bringing that total up to 6,074.
Also, 9 people died throughout the month, 1,958 tests came back negative, and the number of people hospitalized for the virus fell a total of 26 points since the start of the month.
In Sheboygan County, the last report from the Division of Public Health, which came in on Friday, was very good as well. Only 15 new cases were added, and 53 more people were listed as recovered.
However, there was one more death reported as well. This individual was in the 80 years old and up age group and brings the death toll up to 114.
The other pandemic totals are as follows; 12,424 cases, 11,796 recoveries, and 514 cases remain active.
