The Manitowoc County Health Department COVID-19 Update from yesterday once again looks rather promising.
Only 12 new cases were added, meaning since the start of the pandemic, 6,951 people have caught the virus. There were no new recoveries added in the report, but 30 days ago was the day after New Year’s Day, when no new cases were reported. This does mean the active case count rose to 817, while the number of recoveries remained stagnant at 6,074.
Also, there were no new deaths for the 10th day in a row, leaving that number at 60.
The number of people hospitalized for COVID in the Northeast region did jump up to 82, an increase of eight patients, while the percentage of ICU beds in use rose three percentage points to 73%.
In Sheboygan County, their numbers from the weekend also look very promising.
39 new cases were reported by the Division of Public Health, which is an average of 13 new cases a day between Saturday and Monday. That coupled with 96 recoveries (an average of 32 per day), means the active case count dropped pretty big, down 57 points.
The pandemic totals are now at 12,463 cases, 11,892 recoveries, and 457 cases remain active.
There were no new deaths reported, leaving that number at 114.
