More and more people are being released from area hospitals after being treated for COVID-19.
According to yesterday’s COVID-19 Update from the Manitowoc County Health Department, there are now only 60 people in the ten hospitals in the Northeast Region, which is 13 fewer than the day before. In the three daily reports issued by the Health Department so far in February, that number has actually dropped by 22.
That coupled with another day of relatively low numbers of new cases, shows a lot of hope that we may be on the home stretch of this pandemic. 19 new cases were added yesterday, alongside 25 recoveries. This leaves the pandemic totals at 6,979 confirmed cases, 6,156 recoveries, and 763 cases remaining active.
The death toll has also remained stagnant at 60 for the past 12 days.
It is much of the same story in Sheboygan County.
The Division of Public Health reported only 17 new cases yesterday, along with 61 recoveries. This means their pandemic totals now sit at 12,491 confirmed cases, 11,978 recoveries, and 391 people are still battling the virus.
Their death toll remained unchanged as well at 122.
