Richard M. Pitsch, age 91, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center in Manitowoc.
Dick was born on March 2, 1929 in Manitowoc. He was the son of the late Melvin and Irene Szymczyk Pitsch. Dick attended Lincoln High School and then entered the United States Navy being stationed in San Diego, California and the state of Washington. After being honorably discharged Dick returned to Manitowoc and became employed with Hamacheck Automotive, Manitowoc Cranes and in 1974 he started employment with the City of Manitowoc from where he retired. Dick was a member of the American Legion Drews Bleser Post #88 and the Eagles Aerie Club #706. Dick and his late wife Donna enjoyed spending their winters in Arizona for 18 years. On July 8, 1950 he married Donna M. Delsman at Holy Innocents Catholic Church in Manitowoc. She preceded him in death on March 30, 2016.
He is survived by five children, Carol A. (Fred) Ellerman, Manitowoc, Kay F. Leikam, Manitowoc, Mary C. McVey, Shawano, James A. (Nyla) Pitsch, Manitowoc, Jake (Anna) Young, Madison; four grandchildren, Amber Endries, Michael McVey, Susan Dorsette and special friend Brad Madigan, Brian (Selena) Pitsch; two step grandchildren, David and Tim Carty; fifteen great grandchildren, one brother, Dennis Pitsch, Florida; one niece, Debbie Delsman and one nephew, Eric Delsman; special friend, Sherry Close, Manitowoc; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Melvin and Irene Pitsch, his wife, Donna; one son, Robert Young; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Diane Bright and Maxine (Harlan) Hynek; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ervin “Bud” (Kathleen) Delsman.
A Life Celebration Social will be held for relatives and friends on Friday, February 12, 2021 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 North Water Street, Manitowoc, located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Military honors will be accorded by the American legion Drews Bleser Post #88 at the Gathering Center at 6 p.m. to conclude the Life Celebration Social. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel. Burial of the cremated remains will be on Monday morning at Evergreen Cemetery in Manitowoc.
