The future of longtime Milwaukee Brewers slugger Ryan Braun is uncertain as teams prepare for spring training.
The Brewers declined the 2021 option on 37-year-old Braun early in the offseason.
Braun said in text message to MLB.com, “I’m continuing to work out and stay in shape, but I’m not currently interested in playing.” He said that he appreciates “the interest I’ve received and will continue to regularly stay in touch with the Brewers.”
Braun split time between the outfield and designated hitter in the COVID-shortened 2020 season. He hit .233 with eight home runs in 141 plate appearances.
