Mary Ann Coppens, age 83, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Monday, February 15, 2021 at Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers.
Mary Ann was born on February 12, 1938 in Two Rivers to the late Louis and Frances (Bouda) Sporer. She graduated (with perfect penmanship) from Manitowoc Lincoln High School with the class of 1956 and then completed her education by obtaining her Associates Degree in Accounting at Lakeshore Technical Institute in 1979. Mary Ann had most recently worked at and retired from First Interstate / Wells Fargo Bank in Sheboygan, and also previously worked at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Manitowoc. She enjoyed spending her time researching family genealogy which even included a trip to the Czech Republic where she had the privilege of meeting unknown distant family members. Mary Ann also took many trips throughout the United States with her daughter, Cathy, including Mexico and Canada. Mary Ann was also a pet lover, specifically her Dalmatian mix, Pepper. She was a member of New Holstein Embroidery Guild, Manitowoc Genealogical Society, and St. Francis of Assisi Parish. Above all, Mary Ann was a devoted mother that took pride in raising her children and was active with them by being a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts and a Girl Scout Leader.
Survivors include Mary Ann’s four children, Catherine Coppens, Joseph (Karen) Coppens, David Coppens, and Michael Coppens, all of Manitowoc; two grandchildren, Nicole (Nigel) Ordiway and Stephanie Coppens; three great grandchildren, Sakkara, Aria, and Ronin; three step-grandchildren, Adam (Renee) Schweigl, Samantha (Matt) Reed, and Sgt. Jeremy (Jasmine) Schweigl; five step great grandchildren, Elyana, Audrey, Julia, Quinn and Aiden; sister-in-law, Anne Sporer; two brothers-in-law, Wayne (Betty) Coppens and James Coppens; three nephews, John, Tim, and Greg (Sherrene) Sporer; niece, Barbara (Lee) Black; also other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Frances Sporer; her former husband and father of her children, Jeremiah Coppens; and brother, John Sporer.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 19, 2021 at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand, 1416 Grand Avenue, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Doug LeCaptain with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. A luncheon for family and friends will be held at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home.
