Both the number of new cases of COVID-19 in Manitowoc County and the number of vaccines administered continue to rise, albeit at a slow rate.
There were 9 new cases confirmed by the Health Department yesterday (February 24th), bringing the pandemic total up to 7,213. Also of note, the death toll remained stagnant at 63, while the number of people hospitalized for the virus in the Northeast Region of Hospitals fell by one point to 37.
565 more vaccines were administered yesterday as well, with 129 of those being first doses. This brings the total number of shots administered up to 17,108, with 11,982 of those being first dose shots.
That also means that 5,126 people have completed their two rounds of shots or 6.4% of the County. 15.2% of County residents have received at least one shot of the vaccine.
Meanwhile in Sheboygan County, for the second day in a row, the number of new cases outweighed the number of recoveries.
According to the Division of Public Health, 24 more people tested positive yesterday, while 19 people were added to the recovered column. This brings their pandemic totals up to 12,826 cases, 12,552 recoveries, and 146 cases remain active.
There were no new deaths reported, leaving that total stagnant at 128.
