Michael T. Kortens, age 76, of the Town of Kossuth, passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at his home.
Cremation has taken place at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc and a Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, March 4, 2021 at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be Pastor Jeremy Vance with burial of Mike’s remains to take place at St. Anne’s Catholic Cemetery, Francis Creek at a later date.
The family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home on Thursday, March 4, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Survivors include his children and their spouses: Brenda & Ed Kocourek, Manitowoc; Bruce &Sonya Kortens, Mississippi; Barbara Kortens (special friend Tom Kiel), Whitelaw; Jon Kortens, Manitowoc; Jay (Nikki) Kortens, Two Rivers; two brothers and a sister-in-law: Steve & Diane Kortens, Two Rivers; Tim Kortens, Manitowoc; one sister: Tina Waack, Manitowoc; twelve grandchildren: Steven (Shannon) Kocourek, Nicole (Alex) Reno, Austin Kortens, Jade (Justin) Freche, Cody (Katelyn) Austin, Evan Ackley, Michaela Remiker, Anna Kortens, Austin, Brandan, Cayleigh and Dalton Kortens; eight great grandchildren: Piper, Kael, Dylan, Dustin, Adeline, Sylas, Kolbe and Iris; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and numerous close friends. Mike was preceded in death by his parents Paul, Sr. and Angeline Kortens and one brother Paul Kortens, Jr.
In Lieu of flowers, the family will be creating a memorial in Mike’s name to organizations that were dear to his heart: Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center and St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital.
