Winter was kind to eastern Wisconsin farmers.
There was reportedly just enough snow on the ground to protect it from the bitter cold snap in mid-February, but not too much. This perfect combination has led to fields that should be in perfect condition once the spring planting season arrives.
On top of the weather being ideal for the fields, the higher markets this year also has many area farmers optimistic for 2021.
It is likely that farmers will look to plant more corn and soybeans this year, due to the rise in commodity prices for those crops. Part of the reason for that is due to storms that ravaged Iowa last year.
The fields in the Hawkeye State have not recovered, affecting some of the varieties of corn that can be planted.
