No injuries are reported as a result of a vehicle striking a utility pole this morning near Piggly Wiggly.
Manitowoc Public Utilities Key Accounts and Service Manager Dan Salm says that the incident occurred about 9:40 A.M.
The vehicle lost control, jumped the sidewalk, and struck the pole in the 1600 block of North 8th Street.
Salm says there were two momentary blinks to customers but no one lost service. At the top of the pole, there are two 13,200 volt conductors within inches of each other, which Salm comments as being “amazing” that there wasn’t an extended outage.
Crews are currently working to replace the pole and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
The incident remains under investigation.
